Vermillion Takes Win over Humboldt/Hartford Legion

The Humboldt/Hartford legion baseball team traveled to Vermillion on Monday, July 15th.  Vermillion broke a 2-2 tie by scoring 11 of the 12 final runs of the game for a 13-3 win.

Humboldt/Hartford held a brief 1-0 lead after scoring in the top of the first inning.  Vermillion took the lead in the bottom of the first with two runs.  Humboldt/Hartford tied the game, 2-2, with another run in the top of the third.  Vermillion’s offense then got rolling.   They scored six times in the bottom of the third and added another run in the fourth for a 9-2 lead.  Humboldt/Hartford got one more run in the top of the fifth, but Vermillion scored four more times in the bottom of the fifth to end the game on the 10-run rule.

Brodie Herr had a double with an RBI.  Jesse Jost and Cain Grocott each had a single.  Maison Schult pitched 2 1/3 innings and allowed eight runs, six earned, on six hits and four walks.  Will Nester threw 1 2/3 innings and allowed five earned runs on five hits and two walks.
