Gamecocks Hold off Blue Teal

The Humboldt/Hartford Gamecocks held off the Flandreau Blue Teal for an 11-10 win on Sunday, July 14th.

The Blue Teal scored three runs in the bottom of the second and three in the bottom of the third for an early 6-0 lead.  The Gamecocks got three runs in the top of the fourth to cut the lead in half, 6-3.  Flandreau, however, responded with three runs in the bottom of the fourth to go back ahead 9-3.  Humboldt/Hartford then chipped away at the lead.  They scored two runs in the fifth and another in the sixth to make the score 9-6.  The Gamecocks then took the lead, 10-9, with a four-run top of the seventh.  They added an insurance run in the ninth to make the score 11-9, which was needed.  Flandreau got a run in the bottom of the ninth, but the game-tying run was stranded on base.

Blake Svoboda had two hits and four RBIs.  Cam Quigley had two hits, one a double, and an RBI.  Joe Hanisch finished with two doubles.  Briggs Havlik had a double with two RBIs.  Chad Morrison and Tyler Lundborg both had one hit each.
