Gamecocks Win Battle of Humboldt/Hartford Teams

The Humboldt/Hartford Gamecocks won the second and final battle of the 2024 season with the Humboldt/Hartford Wood Ducks on Friday, June 28th.  A six-run fifth inning was key to the 12-6 victory.

The Gamecocks got two runs in the bottom of the first for an early 2-0 lead.  The Wood Ducks tied the game with two runs in the third and then took the lead, 4-2, with two more runs in the top of the fourth.  The Gamecocks regained the lead for good with their six-run bottom of the fifth.  The Wood Ducks made the score 8-6 with two runs in the top of the sixth, but the Gamecocks scored a run in the bottom of the sixth and added three more in the bottom of the seventh.

Jonah Rechtenbaugh had two hits, one a double, and three RBIs for the Gamecocks.  Broc Haldeman and Adam Hentges both had two hits and one RBI each.  Carter Halverson added a double and three RBIs. Nate Masloski had a single and an RBI.  Blake Svoboda and Chad Morrison both had one hit each.  Devon Garry added an RBI.

For the Wood Ducks, Austin King had three hits, including a double, and an RBI.  Chase Vessells finished with a single and two RBIs.  Brodie Herr added a hit and an RBI.  JJ Jesson, CJ DenBoer, and Braden Herr all had one hit each.  Nathan Adrian and Dominick Chandaswang each had an RBI.
