The West Central Trojan volleyball team hosted the Garretson Blue Dragons on Tuesday, October 17th. Garretson won the match in straight sets by scores of 25-22, 25-19, and 25-21.
The Trojans jumped out to an early 7-1 lead to start the first set. They extended their lead to 12-4, but the Blue Dragons went on a 7-3 run to close the gap 15-11. West Central continued to lead 22-18, but Garretson finished the set on a 7-0 run for a 25-22 win.
The Blue Dragons used that momentum to build a 10-3 lead early in the second set. They extended the lead to 15-7 and 20-11. The Trojans did outscore Garretson the rest of the set, but the Blue Dragons took the win 25-19.
Garretson took an early 4-3 lead to start the third set and then increased the lead to 7-3. West Central went on a 7-3 run of their own to tie the score 10-10. The score was tied again 16-16 before the Trojans went ahead 20-18. Garretson went on a 4-0 run to retake the lead 22-20 before winning 25-21.
Izzy McKinney had five kills. Marissa Dobbs also had five kills along with five set assists. Jocelyn Nilson finished with 23 digs and two ace serves. Landry Heath had 20 digs. Addison Meadors and Kaia Gabbert both had one block each. Ellie Lienhard had 14 set assists.
