Trojans Fall to Huskies in Close Match

The West Central Trojan volleyball team hosted the Elk Point-Jefferson Huskies on Tuesday, September 5th.  The Huskies won a close, hard-fought battle in four sets by scores of 26-24, 25-18, 25-27, and 25-18.

The Huskies started the first set on a 7-3 run, but the Trojans responded with a 7-3 run to tie the score 10-10.  The score was tied at 15-15, 21-21, 23-23, and 24-24.  Elk Point-Jefferson would score the final two points for the 26-24 win.  The second set was back-and-forth through the mid point.  The score was tied 13-13 before the Huskies went on a 5-0 run for an 18-13 lead.  They continued to a 25-18 victory for a 2-0 lead.

The third set was also back and forth once again.  After a 10-10 tie, the Huskies went on a 7-1 run for a 17-11 lead.  They were at match point 24-18, but the Trojans rallied to tie the score 24-24 and then completed the comeback with a 27-25 win.  The two teams started the fourth set tied 8-8, but Elk Point-Jefferson went on a 5-1 run for 13-9 lead.  They finished the set with a 25-18 win fro the match win.

Addison Meadors finished with 14 kills.  Maddy Ingalls added seven.  Ellie Lienhard had 35 set assists.  Jocelyn Nilson had a team-high 43 digs.  Avery Nothdurft finished with 21 digs.  Landry Heath and Cambree Ideker both had two ace serves each.
