Trojan Wrestling Takes First at West Sioux Invite

The West Central Trojan wrestling team took first place as a team at the West Sioux Invite on Saturday, January 7th.  The Trojans finished with 298.5 points.  Brookings was second with 204.0 points.  Every wrestler placed in the tournament, and the Trojans had five individual champions.

Alex Siemonsma won the 106-pound class with two pins and a major decision.  Karson Vessells took the 113-pound class with two pins.  Connor Siemonsma won the 138-pound class with two major decision wins and a 2-1 decision.  Chandler Carda was the champ in the 152-pound class with four pins.  Justin Zirpel won the 160-pound class with two decision wins and a pin.

Chet Carda (182) had a second place finish with a 2-1 record.  Gavin Pischke (285) finished second with a 2-1 record.  Levi Anderson (120) had a third place finish with a 3-1 record.  Langdon Klinkhammer (126) was third with a 3-1 record.  Jesse Jost (132) also had a third place finish with a 3-1 record.  Rayce Whiting (145) was third  also with a 3-1 record.  Keaton Vessells (170) was third with a 4-1 record.  Gabe Gebhard (195) took third with a 3-1 record.  Cody Opitz (220) was fourth and had a 3-2 record.  Orlando Whiting (126) had a fifth place finish with a 2-2 record.
