The 2022-2023 West Central Trojan wrestling team will be very experienced as no one graduated from last year’s team. The Trojans finished 13th as a team at the state wrestling tournament and had numerous individual state qualifiers.
“We have a very talented group of athletes from our seniors down to our 7th graders,” said head coach Cole Grocott. “The team should compete well in both tournaments and duals throughout the year. We did not graduate any seniors last year, so we should be able to build on our accomplishments from previous seasons with the presence of 13 wrestlers that have state tournament experience. It should be a fun year to see what our young men and ladies can accomplish.”
The Trojans will be led by seniors Isaiah Heumiller, Dwight Kuhlman, Abram Maras, Wyatt Nielsen, Connor Siemonsma, and Justin Zirpel. Returning state place winners from last year include Chet Carda (junior), Karson Vessells (8th), Zirpel, Orlando Whiting (sophomore), and Allison Foote (junior).
West Central will be at the Sioux Falls Roosevelt tournament on Saturday, December 3rd.
