The West Central baseball team played two games on back-to-back nights on Wednesday, April 22nd and Thursday, April 23rd.
The Trojans hosted Tea Area on Wednesday, and after holding an early 3-0 lead, Tea scored the final six runs of the game for a 6-3 victory over West Central.
Noah Hohn made the Titans pay for committing two errors in the bottom of the first inning. Hohn hit a three-run homerun to left field to give the Trojans an early 3-0 lead. Tea tied the game in the top of the third inning on a three-run homerun of their own. The score remained 3-3 until the top of the seventh. Tea got another three-run homerun to take a 6-3 lead. West Central was retired in order in the bottom of the seventh.
Hohn’s three-run homerun was only one of two hits in the game for West Central. Ryan Healy had the other hit. Healy pitched the first two innings giving up two runs, both earned, on one hit with two walks and a strikeout. Grafton Stroup pitched the final five innings giving up four runs, all earned, on seven hits with five strikeouts.
West Central bounced back with a 15-2 win in five innings over Chester/Colman-Egan/Flandreau on Thursday in Flandreau.
West Central scored in every inning except the second. The Trojans scored three in the first inning, five in the third, two in the fourth, and five more runs in the top of the fifth inning. C/CE/F scored a run in the fourth and fifth innings.
Zach Madsen had four hits, including a double, and three RBIs. Hohn had two hits, one a double, with two RBIs. Seth Gabbert also had two hits, including a double, and two RBIs. Logan Marris had a hit and RBI. Healy also had a hit in the game. Marris pitched four innings giving up an unearned run on two hits with five walks and six strikeouts. Braden Herr pitched one inning giving up an unearned run on a hit with two strikeouts.
