The West Central baseball team lost two games in Madison on Saturday, April 17th. West Central lost to Howard 9-4 and then lost to Madison 4-3.
In their first game against Howard, Howard got out to an early lead scoring a run in the first and two more in the second for an early 3-0 lead. West Central scored after a Howard error in the bottom of the third to cut the lead to 3-1. Howard scored two times in the top of the fifth to extend their lead to 5-1, but West Central pulled within a run after scoring three in the bottom of the sixth on a double and a two-run single. That was as close as West Central would get as Howard scored four times in the top of the seventh to secure the win.
Later in the afternoon, Madison scored four times in the middle inning and held off West Central for a 4-3 win.
West Central scored in the top of the first inning on an RBI single. Madison tied the game in the bottom of the third, but West Central took the lead again in the top of the fourth inning on a home run. Madison again tied the game in the bottom of the inning to make the score 2-2. Madison took the lead for good in the bottom of the fifth on a two-run home run for a 4-2 lead. West Central got a run back in the top of the sixth when a run scored on an error, but Madison shut down any more of a rally and took the win.
