The Vermillion Tanagers used a third quarter rally to defeat the Dell Rapids Quarriers on Thursday, January 24th at Vermillion High School.
The Dell Rapids offense was clicking in the first quarter. The Quarriers got out to a 10 point lead early and ended the first quarter leading 15-10. Vermillion was able to get their offense going in the second quarter and tied the game at 24-24 heading into halftime.
The Tanagers put together a dominant third quarter on both ends of the floor to take control of the game. Vermillion outscored Dell Rapids 17-4 in the quarter to take a 41-28 lead heading into the fourth. Dell Rapids cut the Vermillion lead down to six late into the fourth quarter, but the Tanagers converted enough free throws in the final minute to earn the 57-47 victory.
Dell Rapids (5-6) will play at Tri-Valley High School on Friday, February 1st in a girls and boys double-header. Both games can be seen on Big Sioux Media.
