January 25, 2022 by Matt Larson, Big Sioux Media

The West Central Trojan girls hosted the Sioux Falls Christian Chargers in a Region 3A battle on Monday, January 24th.  A fourth quarter rally led the Trojans to a 64-57 victory.

The Chargers started the game on a 6-0 run, but held just a one-point lead at the end of the first quarter, 11-10.  Sioux Falls Christian was able to push that lead to three points by halftime, 24-20.  Through the first two quarters, West Central shot just 26% from the field, while Sioux Falls Christian was 48%.

Things started to turn around for the Trojans in the second half.  The third quarter was back and forth, and West Central held the 38-37 advantage heading into the fourth quarter.  The Trojans started to get a little separation around the midway point of the fourth quarter.  With 3:25 to play, the Trojans built a 53-48 lead.  The Chargers, however, came storming back in the next minute scoring six straight points to take a 54-53 lead.  The two teams battled back and forth again over the next minute.  Jazelle Jarding hit a three pointer with 1:20 to go to give the Trojans a 59-55 lead.  They were able to make enough free throws down the stretch to hold on for the win.

West Central finished the game shooting 36% (18-50), 33% (12-36) from three-point area, and 70% (16-23) from the free-throw line.  The Chargers finished shooting 47% (22-47), 26% (5-19) from three-point area, and 47% (8-17) from the free-throw line.

Tabor Teel had 23 points and six rebounds.  Jarding finished with 16 points.  Addy Kramer added 14 points and 11 rebounds.  Cambell Fischer had five points, three rebounds, and three assists.
