The Colton Yard Goats earned two big wins. They defeated Dell Rapids on Monday, June 30th and then beat Salem on Tuesday, July 1st.
Colton 4, Dell Rapids 1
The Yard Goats scored the final four runs on the game and held Dell Rapids to just two hits in their win. The Phils scored a run in the bottom of the first inning, but then was shut out the rest of the game. Colton tied the game with a run in the top of the fourth. The Yard Goats went in front 2-1 with a run in the top of the fifth. They added two insurance runs in the top of the seventh.
Alex Wingen, Mason Hemme, and Denton Bicknase all had a hit and an RBI. Braxton Allen and Nathan Madison both had one hit. Tristen Bunde pitched a seven-inning complete game allowing one earned run on two hits and four walks with eight strikeouts.
Colton 7, Salem 3
The Yard Goats followed the win over Dell Rapids with a victory against Salem. They scored three runs in the bottom of the first and two more in the second to take an early 5-0 lead. Salem scored a run in the top of the third, but Colton added another two runs in the bottom of the third to make the score 7-1. Salem got single runs in the top of the fifth and seventh innings.
Wingen had two singles and an RBI. Parker Hemme had two hits. Madison finished with a hit and two RBIs. M. Hemme added a single and an RBI. Carter Sorenson, Aiden Bunde, and Ryan Lehman all had one hit each. Landon Schenkel pitched 4 1/3 innings and allowed two runs, one earned, on three hits and four walks with three strikeouts. Allen pitched 2 2/3 innings and allowed an unearned run on a hit and walk with one strikeout.
