The Colton Legion Yard Goats won two of four games in four straight days between Wednesday, July 9th and Saturday, July 12th.
Vermillion 14, Colton 1
Vermillion scored five early runs and nine runs late in their 14-1 in on July 9th. They scored three in the top of the first and two in the second for a 5-0 lead. Colton scored their only run in the bottom of the second. Vermillion then added three in the fourth and six in the fifth before the game ended on the 10-run rule.
Aiden Bunde had a double with an RBI. Tristen Bunde and Denton Bicknase each had a single in the game.
Colton 8, Groton 5
The Yard Goats pulled away late in a back-and-forth game with Groton on July 10th. Groton scored three times in the top of the first inning, but Colton tied the game, 3-3, with three runs in the bottom of the second. Groton went back in front, 5-3, with two runs in the top of the third. The Yard Goats again tied Groton, 5-5, with two runs in the bottom of the fifth. Colton then scored three times in the bottom of the fifth to earn the win.
A. Bunde had a home run and a double with an RBI. Alex Wingen ended with two hits and an RBI. Ryan Lehman also had two hits. Brody Dybvig had a single with two RBIs. T. Bunde and Bixknase both had a hit and one RBI each. Landon Schenkel had a double, and Mason Hemme had a single.
Colton 5, Devils Lake 4
The Yard Goats stopped a seventh-inning rally to hold for a 5-4 win on July 11th. Colton scored two times in the top of the first. They held the 2-0 lead until the bottom of the fourth. Devils Lake tied the game with two runs in the fourth. Colton then scored two more runs in the top of the fifth and another in the top of the sixth for a 5-2 lead. Devils Lake scored twice in the bottom of the seventh and had the tying run on base with one out, but a strikeout and fly out ended the rally and game.
Nathan Madison had two hits and two RBIs. Carter Sorenson also had two hits. Dybvig, T. Bunde, and Schenkel all had one hit each. A. Bunde ended with two RBIs.
Lisbon 7, Colton 4
Lisbon rallied for six late runs to steal a 7-4 win over the Yard Goats on July 12th. After two scoreless innings, Colton took the lead, 2-0, with two in the bottom of the third. Each team scored a run in the fourth inning. Colton added another in the bottom of the fifth for a 4-1 lead. Lisbon cut the lead to 4-3 with two runs in the top of the sixth. They would rally for four runs in the top of the seventh to take the win.
M. Hemme had two hits, one a double, and an RBI. Braxton Allen and Bicknase both had two hits and an RBI each. T. Bunde had a single, and Schenkel had an RBI.
