The Colton Yard Goats legion baseball team had their season come to an end in the Region 5B Tournament on Wednesday, July 23rd. Salem rallied for four straight runs to take a 4-3 win over Colton in an elimination game.
After a lead-off triple to start the game, Carter Sorenson had an RBI single in the top of the first to give Colton a 1-0 lead. The Yard Goats added to the lead in the top of the third. Brody Dybrig scored on an error, and Braxton Allen added an RBI single to push the lead to 3-0. Salem cut into that lead, 3-2, with a two-run bottom of the fourth inning. They would tie the game, 3-3, with a run in the bottom of the fifth. Salem then pushed across the winning run on a two-out double in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Allen finished with two hits and an RBI. Mason Hemme also had two hits. Sorenson added a single with an RBI. Dybvig ended with a triple. Alex Wingen, Nathan Madison, and Aiden Bunde all had one hit each.
Denton Bicknase pitched 3 2/3 innings and allowed two earned runs on three hits and three walks with two strikeouts. Tristen Bunde pitched 1 2/3 innings and allowed an unearned run on a hit with one strikeout. Dybvig tossed 1/3 of an inning and allowed an earned run on a hit and a walk. Allen also pitched 1/3 of an inning.
