The Tri-Valley Mustang girls traveled to Yankton to play in the Sun Gold Sports/Sacred Hoops girls classic on Saturday, January 27th. The Mustangs took on the Winner Warriors, and the Warriors got the win 42-35.
The Warriors held just a one-point lead at the end of the first quarter, 13-12. The second quarter might have been the difference in the game. Winner outscored Tri-Valley 18-10 for a 31-22 lead at halftime. Every time the Mustangs got within five or six points in the second half, Winner had an answer. The Warriors continued to lead by nine, 36-27, going into the fourth quarter.
Mattie Huwe had 12 points, five rebounds, and three assists. Madelyn Wenzel finished with six points and seven rebounds. Elizabeth Davey added five points, two rebounds, and two assists. Lauren Grinde had three points and five rebounds, and Emery Pearson had three points and two rebounds.
