The Tri-Valley Mustang volleyball hosted the Wagner Red Raiders in another Saturday matinee match on October 4th. The Red Raiders rallied past the Mustangs in straight sets by scores of 25-21, 25-22, and 25-23.
The Mustangs had a lead or were tied late with the Red Raiders in every set. Tri-Valley jumped out to a 5-1 lead in the opening set. They led 8-5 and then pushed the lead to 11-5. Tri-Valley held a 15-8 advantage, but Wagner went on a 6-0 run to get within a point, 15-14. After a 16-16 tie, the Red Raiders went on a 5-1 run for a 21-17 lead . They held the four-point lead to a 25-21 win.
The second set started in a 3-3 tie. Wagner would go in front 8-4. The Mustangs got within a point, 11-10, but the Red Raiders responded with a 4-0 run to make the score 15-10. They continued to lead 17-12 when Tri-Valley went on a 4-0 run to make the score 17-16. The Mustangs eventually tied the score 21-21, but Wagner finished the set on a 4-1 run for a 25-22 win.
Wagner scored the first three points of the third set for a 3-0 lead. Tri-Valley tied the score 3-3. After a 5-5 tie, the Mustangs went in in front 8-5. They pushed their lead to five points, 16-11. Wagner went on a 7-2 run to tie the score 18-18. The score was tied again 20-20 and 21-21. Wagner took a 23-21 advantage and held off the Mustangs for a 25-23 win.
