The Tri-Valley Mustang volleyball team had their 2024 season come to an end in the opening round of the Region 3A tournament on Tuesday, November 5th. The Mustangs fell to the Garretson Blue Dragons in straight sets by scores of 25-15, 25-18, and 25-17.
In each of the three sets, Garretson took a big lead early and then held of Tri-Valley runs late. The first set started with a 2-2 tie. The Blue Dragons then went on an 8-1 run for a 10-3 lead. They extended that lead to 20-9. The Mustangs went on a 6-2 run to make the score 22-15, but Garretson scored the final three points for a 25-15 win.
Garretson opened the second set with a 10-0 run. Tri-Valley was able to stop the run and make the score 15-8. The Blue Dragons led 18-10 and then 22-13. They were at set point, 24-13, but the Mustangs then went on a 5-0 run to make the score 24-18. Garretson stopped the rally, however, and scored the set-winning point for a 25-18 score.
The third set started with an early 3-2 lead for the Blue Dragons. They extended their lead to 10-5 and then to 18-9. The lead grew to 22-10, but the Mustangs went on a 7-1 run to make the score 23-17. Garretson won end the match with two straight points for a 25-17 win.
Tri-Valley’s season ends with an overall record of 5-20.
