Tri-Valley Volleyball Has Set Back in Elk Point

The Tri-Valley Mustang volleyball team lost to the Elk Point-Jefferson Huskies, who received votes to be ranked in the latest media poll, on Tuesday, October 22nd.  The Huskies won in straight sets by scores of 25-12. 25-15, and 25-19.

After leading by just a point, 3-2, in the opening set, the Huskies went on a 7-2 run to extend their lead to 10-4.  They kept building on that lead all set long.  Elk Point-Jefferson had leads of 17-6 and 21-8 before winning 25-12.  The second set started with a 3-3 tie.  Elk Point-Jefferson, however, went on a 7-2 run again for a 10-5 lead.  The Huskies extended their lead to 16-7.  They maintained that advantage to a 25-15 victory.

Elk Point-Jefferson started the third set with a 5-1 lead.  Tri-Vallley responded with a 4-1 run to cut the lead to 6-5.  The Huskies would push the lead to 11-6 and kept that advantage to a 15-11 score.  They then went on a 6-2 run to extend their lead to 21-13.  The Mustangs battled to within four points, 22-18, but the Huskies stopped the rally and won 25-19.

Brooke Steineke and Emery Pearson both had four kills each.  Abby Wagner had four ace serves and seven set assists.  Macey Boese ended with eight digs, and Cheyenne Hanson had seven digs.
