The Tri-Valley Maroon 17U baseball team split a double header with Sioux Falls Christian on Tuesday, June 24th. Tri-Valley won the first game 3-2, but Sioux Falls Christian took the second game 17-5.
Tri-Valley 3, Sioux Falls Christian 2
A run in the top of the seventh gave Tri-Valley the win in the first game. After two scoreless innings, Sioux Falls Christian got a run in the bottom of the third. The score remained 1-0 until the sixth inning. Tri-Valley scored twice to take a 2-1 lead. Sioux Falls Christian responded with a run in the bottom of the sixth to tie the game 2-2. Evan Focken had an RBI sacrifice bunt in the top of the seventh that proved to be the winning run.
Brechen Frederick had two triples in the game. Cooper Durick had a double and single. Treyson Richter had a single with an RBI. Jackson Williams had a single, and Focken had an RBI. Lawson Schneiderman pitched all seven innings and allowed two earned runs on four hits and three walks with seven strikeouts.
Sioux Falls Christian 17, Tri-Valley 5
Sioux Falls Christian built a big lead after the first two innings to take the second game. Tri-Valley got two runs right away in the top of the first. Sioux Falls Christian, however, scored five in the bottom of the first and eight more in the second for a 13-2 lead. Tri-Valley got two more in the third, but Sioux Falls Christian added four in the bottom of the fourth. The final run for Tri-Valley came in the top of the fifth inning before the game ended on the 10-run rule.
Durick had two hits, including a triple, and two RBIs. Schneiderman had a double. Ricther and Cooper Nielsen both had one hit each. Parker Atwood finished with an RBI.
Tri-Valley also two 1-2 over the past weekend. They lost to Mt Vernon/Plainkinton 11-0 on Saturday, June 21st. Tri-Valley got a win over Miller 13-6 also on Saturday, but then took a loss to Lennox, 10-0, on Sunday, June 22nd.
