Tri-Valley Girls Roll Past Garretson in Opener

The Tri-Valley Mustang girls basketball team had to wait a couple of extra days to play their season opener.  The Mustangs hosted the Garretson Blue Dragons on Thursday, December 11th in a game that was originally scheduled for December 9th.  Tri-Valley rolled to a 47-17 home victory.

Garretson started the game with a 5-0 run, but their lead would be short lived.  Tri-Valley responded with a 6-1 run to tie the score 6-6 . They would finish the quarter on a 9-1 run for a 15-7 lead going into the second quarter.  The Blue Dragons would not get any closer than 15-9 in the game.  The Mustangs closed out the half on a 12-0 run for a 27-9 lead.  Tri-Valley outscored Garretson 16-6 in the third quarter and led 43-15 going into the fourth quarter.

The Mustangs shot 31% (17-55) from the field overall, 21% (5-24) from three-point area, and 50% (8-16) from the free-throw line.  Garretson was 23% (5-22) overall, 20% (2-10) on three-point shots, and 31% (5-16) from the free-throw line.  The Blue Dragons committed 33 turnovers that led to 28 points for the Mustangs.

Mattie Huwe finished with 14 points and seven steals.  Peyton Vogt had nine points and five steals.  Hailey Sorenson also ended with nine points along with four steals.  Jaidyn McMillen added five points  Rowyn Gacke had two points, six rebounds, four assists, and four steals.
