Tri-Valley Girls Hit Big Shots to Hold off Baltic

The Tri-Valley Mustang girls hit some big shots in the third and fourth quarters to hold off the Baltic Bulldogs for a 48-42 win at home on Monday, January 12th.

The Mustangs opened the game on an 11-0 run.  They would hold a 19-10 lead after the first quarter.  Baltic battled tough in the second quarter and cut the lead down to 28-24 by halftime.  The Bulldogs would start the third quarter with a 7-2 run to go in front 31-30.  Tri-Valley hit big shots to stop the rally and ended the quarter on an 8-3 run for a 38-34 advantage going into the fourth quarter.  The Bulldogs scored the first five points of the fourth quarter to retake the lead 39-38.  The Mustangs again hit big shots to stop the rally and held Baltic to just three more points in the quarter while scoring 10 to get the 48-42 win.

Tri-Valley was 25% (15-59) shooting overall, 28% (11-39) on three-point shots, and 70% (7-10) from the free-throw line.  Baltic shot 27% (13-48) overall in the game, 29% (6-21) from three-point area, and 50% (10-20) from the free-throw line.

Hailey Sorenson had 14 points, three rebounds, and two assists.  Mattie Huwe ended with nine points, three rebounds, and three steals.  Jaidyn McMillen also had nine points with two rebounds and three assists.  Rowyn Gacke had five points, 10 rebounds, and four assists.  Peyton Vogt finished with four points, eight rebounds, and three steals.
