The Tri-Valley high school baseball team had three games in a three day span, and earned a win in all of them. They traveled to Flandreau on Wednesday, May 7th, hosted Madison/Chester on Thursday, May 8th, and then had a road game at McCook Central on Friday, May 9th.
Tri-Valley 9, Flandreau 5
Neither team was able to push across a run in the first three innings of the game. Tri-Valley broke the 0-0 tie with five runs in the top of the fourth. Flandreau cut the lead down to one run with a four-run bottom of the fifth inning. Tri-Valley responded with a run in the sixth and then added three insurance runs in the seventh. Flandreau scored just one time in the bottom of the seventh.
Treyson Richter had two hits, including a double, with two RBIs. Cooper Durick also had two hits. Alex Wingen had a single with three RBIs. Aiden Bunde and Brody Dybvig both had a single with an RBI. Tristen Bunde added a single. Richter pitched five innings and allowed four runs, three earned, on five hits and five walks with six strikeouts. Wingen pitched one inning and allowed two walks and had two strikeouts. Jackson Williams threw one inning and allowed an unearned run on two hits with a walk.
Tri-Valley 14, Madison/Chester 10
Tri-Valley was able to win a wild game against Madison/Chester on Thursday. Each team scored a run in the first inning. Madison took the lead, 2-1, with another run in the top of the second. Tri-Valley would score the next eight runs. They had three runs in the bottom of the third and five more in the fourth to take a 9-2 lead. Madison, however, responded with a big eight-run fifth inning to go in front 10-9. Tri-Valley tied the game in the bottom of the fifth, and they then took the lead with four runs in the bottom of the sixth.
Brechen Frederick had two hits with three RBIs. Richter finished with two hits and two RBI. Wingen had two, one a triple, and an RBI. Parker Hemme also had two hits. Mason Hemme ended with a double and two RBIs. Dybvig also had a hit with two RBIs. Tristen Bunde had a single, and A. Bunde ended with an RBI. Landon Schenkel pitched 4 1/3 innings and allowed seven runs, six earned, on six hits and six walks with three strikeouts. Denton Bicknase pitched 1/3 of an inning and allowed three earned runs on three hits and two walks with one strikeout. Dybvig pitched 2 1/3 innings and allowed two hits and a walk with five strikeouts.
Tri-Valley 14, McCook Central 6
The string of games ended with a road win for Tri-Valley on Friday. A string of runs to start the game and then end the game helped them to the win. Tri-Valley scored two runs right away in the top of the first. McCook Central countered with a run in the bottom of the inning. Tri-Valley would then score two in the top of the second and four more in the top of the third for an 8-1 lead. McCook Central got one run back in the bottom of the third. They would add three in the bottom of the fifth to make the score 8-5. Each team scored a run in the sixth inning to make the score 9-6. Tri-Valley put the game away with five runs in the top of the seventh.
M. Hemme had three hits, one a double and three RBIs. Cole Hendrixson had two hits, including a triple, with three RBIs. Williams added two singles and two RBIs. Richter also had two singles. P. Hemme and Bicknase each had one hit. Durick and T. Bunde both had one RBI each. T. Bunde threw 6 1/3 innings and allowed six runs, two earned, on six hits and three walks with 10 strikeouts. Lawson Schneiderman pitched 2/3 of an inning and recorded one strikeout.
