The Tri-Valley high school baseball team played home games on back-to-back nights. They hosted Mt Vernon/Plankinton/Corsica/Stickney (MVPCS) on Sunday, May 4th and then hosted West Central on May 5th.
MVPCS 10, Tri-Valley 5
The Padres scored early and then responded to Tri-Valley’s rally in a 10-5 win. MVPCS scored three times in the top of the first and then two more in the top of the second for a 5-0 lead. They added another run in the fifth to extend the lead to 6-0. Tri-Valley scored three in the bottom of the fifth to cut the lead in half, 6-3. The Padres, however, responded with three more runs in the top of the sixth. Tri-Valley got two of those runs back in the bottom of the inning for a 9-5 score going into the seventh. MVPCS got one more run in the last inning.
Alex Wingen had two hits and an RBI. Cooper Durick also had two hits. Tristen Bunde added a single and an RBI. Parker Hemme ended with a single. Treyson Richter had two RBIs. Landon Schenkel pitched three innings and allowed five runs, two earned, on two hits and three walks with three strikeouts. Denton Bicknase also threw three innings and allowed four runs, three earned, on two hits and a walk. Jackson Williams threw one innings and allowed an earned run on two hits and a walk with a strikeout.
West Central 12, Tri-Valley 3
After a 2-2 tie at the end of the first inning, West Central scored six straight runs. They got three in the second, one in the third, one in the fourth, and one more in the top of the fifth for an 8-2 lead. Tri-Vallley got one more run in the bottom of the fifth. West Central added four in the top of the seventh.
Brody Dybvig and Hemme each had a single for the only two hits in the game for Tri-Valley. Bunde pitched 3 1/3 innings and allowed seven runs, just one earned, on six hits and two walks with a strikeout. Dybvig pitched 2 2/3 innings and allowed an unearned run on two strikeouts. Williams threw 1/3 of an inning and allowed four runs, one earned, on a hit and two walks with a strikeout. Evan Focken pitched 2/3 of an inning walking one and striking out one.
