The Tri-Valley Maroon 14U team claimed the Region 4A championship with a 15-5 win over West Central on Tuesday, July 16th. The win will send Tri-Valley to the South Dakota VFW State A Tournament.
Tri-Valley exploded for 13 runs in the bottom of the first inning on their way to claiming the title. West Central got three runs in the top of the third and two more in the top of fourth for a 13-5 score. Tri-Valley got two more runs in the bottom of the fourth. The game ended on the 10-run rule in the fifth inning.
Brechen Frederick had two hits, one a home run, and three RBIs. Cooper Durick also had two hits and three RBIs. Reed Smith finished with two hits and two RBIs. Abbott Moeller added two hits, one a double. Cooper Nielsen and Lawson Schneiderman both had one single each. Schneiderman pitched 3 1/3 innings and allowed five earned runs on three hits and seven walks with one strikeout. Durick pitched 1 2/3 innings walking two batters and striking out five.
