The Vermillion Tanagers outscored the Tri-Valley Mustangs 38-10 in the middle quarters to help them to a 60-29 win on Friday, February 13th.
The Mustangs were within three points, 11-8, with just 2:00 to play in the first quarter. Vermillion then went on an 8-2 run to lead 19-10 going into the second quarter. That little run sparked a big rally for the Tanagers over the middle quarters. They outscored Tri-Valley 24-6 in the second quarter for a 43-16 halftime lead. The Tanagers extended that lead to 57-20 by the end of the third quarter.
Tri-Valley shot 32% (12-37) from the field overall, 20% (3-15) on three-point shots, and 2-3 from the free-throw line. Vermillion finished the game shooting 44% (21-48), 37% (10-27) from three-point area, and 8-10 from the free-throw line.
Brady Jewett had 10 points, three steals, and two rebounds. Kobe Krome ended with five points. Tristen Bunde had three points and four rebounds. Jett Nielsen also had three points. Ty Oyen had two points, seven rebounds, and three assists.
