The Tri-Valley Mustangs finished fourth as a team at the Region 2B tournament in Salem on Saturday, February 18th. The Mustangs finished with 154.0 points. Canton (265.0) placed first, McCook Central/Montrose (197.0) was second, and Elk Point-Jefferson (154.5) finished third.
Cole Hendrixson won the 113-pound class with three wins on the day. Treyson Richter (126) and Brody Dybvig (138) placed second with records of 2-1. Mason Hendrickson (170) finished third with a 3-1 record. Isaac Nehlich (285) was also third with a record of 3-1. Brechen Frederick (132) and Landyn Reiser (160) were fourth with 2-2 records. These seven wrestlers will participate in the state tournament.
Owen Bunde (106), Owen Effling (120), Lawson Loiseau (145), Everet Althoff (182) were fifth with a record of 2-2. Xavier Yount (195) and Luke Nehlich (220) had sixth place finishes with 1-3 records. Jesus Mendoza (152) had a record of 1-2.
The 2023 South Dakota Class B State Wrestling tournament will be held in Rapid City Thursday, February 23rd through Saturday, February 25th.
