Quick Start Helps Tri-Valley Girls to Home Win

The Tri-Valley Mustang girls basketball team used a 7-0 start to help them to a 51-36 home win over the Elkont-Lake Benton Elks on Tuesday, January 6th.  The win was the second in a row for Tri-Valley.

The Mustangs were able to maintain their seven-point lead after the quick start throughout the first quarter.  They led 14-7 at the first quarter break.  Tri-Valley was able to extend their lead throughout the second quarter and took a 31-16 lead into halftime.  The lead grew to 20 points in the the third quarter.  The quarter would end with Tri-Valley leading 42-23.

Tri-Valley shot 29% (15-52) overall in the game, 24% (6-25) on three-point attempts, and 54% (15-28) from the free-throw line.  The Elks finished the game shooting 41% (13-32) overall, 27% (4-15) from three-point area, and 32% (6-19) from the free-throw line.  A big defensive stat in the game was the Mustangs were able to get 20 steals.

Kadence Davey finished with 10 points, eight rebounds, four steals, and two assists.  Hailey Sorenson also had 10 points with seven rebounds, two assists, and two steals.  Jaidyn McMillen ended with nine points and two steals.  Mattie Huwe added eight points and three steals.  Peyton Vogt had seven points and two steals.
