Mustangs Suffer Home Loss in Close Match to Lennox

The Tri-Valley Mustangs hosted the Lennox Orioles for their “Pink Out” match on Monday, October 16th.  Lennox won the five-set match by scores of 20-25, 25-12, 25-16, 16-25, and 15-12.

The Mustangs started the match with a 5-2 lead in the opening.  Lennox got within a point a few times before tying the score 10-10.  The Orioles then went ahead 14-11.  Tri-Valley bounced backed with a 6-0 run to go ahead 17-14.  That run was enough to keep them in front for a 25-20 win.  After a 4-4 tie to start the second set, Lennox got on a run.  The Orioles went on a 12-3 run for a 16-7 lead.  Lennox took the second set 25-12.

The third set started with a 3-3 tie.  The score was tied again 5-5.  Lennox went on another run of 7-2 for a 12-7 lead.  Tri-Valley was within four points, 18-14, before the Orioles finished the set on a 7-2 run for a 25-16 win.  The fourth set was back and forth with multiple ties.  The score was tied 4-4, 7-7, 11-11, 14-14, and 16-16.  The Mustangs went on a run of 9-5 to win 25-21 and force a fifth set.

Lennox took the first advantage in the last set after a 2-2 tie.  The Orioles went ahead 5-2.  They remained in front by three points at 9-6.  Tri-Valley rallied to tie the score 11-11.  The score was tied again 12-12.  Lennox finished the match with a 3-0 run for a 15-12 victory.

Madelyn Wenzel had 11 kills and 20 digs.  Hillary Hastings finished with 10 kills, four blocks, and two set assists.  Emery Pearson had six kills.  Nevaeh Grann had 16 set assists and seven digs.  Emily Wenzel added 11 set assists and four digs.  Lauren Grinde, Julia Mauszycki, and Kenzie Atwood all had 10 digs each.
