The Tri-Valley Mustangs took sixth place in their first State A appearance in Aberdeen held Thursday, May 30th through Saturday, June 1st. Tri-Valley had an overall record of 14-9 on the season.
Madison 7, Tri-Valley 2
The Bulldogs slowly built a 7-0 lead throughout the game. Madison got a run in the first, one in the second, one in the fourth, three in the fifth, and then one in the sixth for a 7-0 lead. Tri-Valley put two runs on the board in the top of the seventh.
Emry Jones had a home run and two RBIs. Isabella Wetmore-Ocampo, Izzy Davey, and Ava Christensen all had a single. Jones pitched six innings and allowed seven runs, six earned, on nine hits and five walks with four strikeouts.
Tri-Valley 5, Elk Point-Jefferson 2
A five-run bottom of the fourth propelled Tri-Valley to a 5-2 win over the Huskies on Friday. Elk Point-Jefferson did score a run in the top of the first and another in the top of the second.
Kadence Davey had two hits, a triple and double, with an RBI. Christensen had a double and two RBIs. Syenna Bird had two hits, one a double. I. Davey also had two singles. Emery Pearson added a triple. Jones pitched seven innings and allowed two earned runs on six hits and three walks with nine strikeouts.
Dakota Valley 5, Tri-Valley 4
The Panthers held off Tri-Valley to take fifth place in the tournament. Dakota Valley scored two runs in the top of the first, a run in the fourth, and another in the top of the fifth for a 4-0 lead. Tri-Valley scored three runs in the bottom of the fifth to cut the lead to 4-3. Each team scored a run in the sixth inning.
Bird and Keagan Kuchta each had three singles. I. Davey had two hits and an RBI. Jones had a double and two RBIs. Christensen finished with a single and an RBI, and K. Davey had a hit. Jones pitched seven innings and allowed five runs, four earned, on nine hits with six strikeouts.
