After a couple of losses in a row, the Tri-Valley Mustang football team got back into the win column with a 36-21 win over the Vermillion Tanagers on Friday, October 10th.
The first quarter ended in a scoreless tie, but the Mustang offense started rolling in the second quarter. Cole Hendrixson had a three-yard touchdown run to put Tri-Valley on the board, 6-0. Brady Jewett had his first of four touchdown passes later in the quarter. He connected with Connor Glasford for nine yards and a score to make it a 12-0 lead. Jewett then had a 17-yard touchdown pass to Ty Oyen before halftime giving the Mustangs an 18-0 lead going into halftime.
Jewett would have his third touchdown pass in the third quarter, a big 53-yard pass to Owen Effling. Jewett and Brody Dybvig connected for the two-point conversion to extend the Tri-Valley lead to 26-0. Vermillion got their first score late in the third quarter on a four-yard pass for a 26-6 score.
The Mustang defense got a score in the fourth quarter. Luke Nehlich had a quarterback sack in the end zone for a safety making the score 28-6. Jewett’s fourth touchdown pass was to Dybvig for 28 yards. Jewett and Oyen connected for the two-point conversion, and the Mustangs led 36-6.
The Tanagers got two more scores in the fourth quarter. Vermillion had a 33-yard touchdown pass. The two-point conversion was good for a 36-14 score. They would get one more touchdown on a seven-yard touchdown pass. The made extra point put the score at 36-21.
Tri-Valley will host the Lennox Orioles on Friday, October 17th.
