Mustang Volleyball Notches First Win of 2024 Season

The Tri-Valley Mustang volleyball team got their first win of the 2024 season on Thursday, August 29th in Parker.  The Mustangs took the match in straight sets.

Tri-Valley started the match with a 3-0 run.  They maintained a three-point lead with scores of 6-3 and 9-6.  They extend the lead to 13-7.  Parker made a run and cut the lead to 16-14, but Tri-Valley scored the next three points to extend the advantage to 19-14.  The Mustangs used that momentum and won the first set 25-16.

The second set started with the Mustangs leading 4-3.  They added to the lead at 9-7, but the Pheasants made a run.  They outscored Tri-Valley 11-1 to go ahead 18-10.  After a timeout Tri-Valley regrouped and made a run of their own.  They cut the lead down to two points, 19-17, and then eventually tied the score 21-21.  The Mustangs would win the second set 26-24.

The momentum of the comeback in the second set carried into the third set.  Tri-Valley started on a 7-1 run and never looked back.  They stayed in front 15-9 before finishing the match on a 10-2 run for a 25-11 final score.

Emery Pearson finished with 16 kills and 16 digs.  Emry Jones added 11 kills and five blocks.  Maddie Wenzel had eight kills, 21 digs, and three blocks.  Abby Wagner finished with 36 set assists and three ace serves.  Emily Wenzel had 23 set assists and five digs.  Macey Boese had 24 digs.  Brooke Steineke finished with 16 digs, and Brooklyn Ruth had 11 digs.
