Mustang Softball Squeaks by Raiders

The Tri-Valley Mustangs rallied for three runs late to earn a 5-4 win over Gayville-Volin on Thursday, May 1st.

Emry Jones had an RBI single in the top of the first to give Tri-Valley a 1-0 lead.  The score remained 1-0 until the top of the sixth.  Ava Christensen delivered an RBI double to make the score 2-0.  Gayville-Volin scored four times in the bottom of the sixth to go in front 4-2.  The Mustangs rallied for two runs with two outs in the top of the seventh to tie the game 4-4.  The Raiders were held scoreless in the bottom of the seventh, and the game went into extra innings.  Kadence Davey hit a two-out RBI double in the top of the eighth, which was the game-winning hit.

K. Davey had four hits, two of them doubles, and an RBI.  Izzy Davey had two hits, including a double, and two RBIs.  Christensen had two hits, one a double, and an RBI.  Mattie Huwe added two singles.  Jones had a single with an RBI, and Hailey Sorenson had a single.

Jones pitched five innings and allowed four earned runs on fie hits and a walk with 11 strikeouts.  I. Davey pitched three innings and allowed five hits with three strikeouts.
