Mustang Girls Suffer Home Loss after 4th Quarter Rally by Milbank

The Tri-Valley Mustang girls suffered a home loss to the Milbank Bulldogs on Saturday, February 14th.  After trailing for three quarters, the Bulldogs rallied in the fourth quarter for a 32-29 win.

Neither offense was able to get on the board for the first five minutes of the game.  Tri-Valley finally broke the scoreless tie with 2:50 to play.  The first quarter ended with the Mustangs leading 6-2.  Tri-Valley started to get some momentum in the second quarter.  They outscored Milbank 13-7 to extend their lead to 19-9 at halftime.

The Bulldogs were able to get their offense going after halftime.  They rallied for 14 points in the third quarter and cut the deficit down to 26-23 going into the fourth quarter.  Milbank scored the first four points of the quarter to go in front 27-26 with 6:15 to play.  They continued their run and extended the lead to 30-26 just thirty seconds later.  That spurt to start the fourth quarter was enough as the Bulldogs held the Mustangs to just three points in the final quarter.

Tri-Valley shot 20% (9-45) from the field overall, 19% (4-21) on three-point shots, and 50% (7-14) from the free-throw line.  Milbank was 34% (13-38) shooting overall, 20% (3-15) on three-point attempts, and 27% (3-11) from the free-throw line.

Rowyn Gacke finished with 15 points and five rebounds.  Kadence Davey ended with four points, six steals, and four rebounds.  Mattie Huwe, Danika Fluth, and Lillian Schlueter all had three points each.
