Mustang Girls Hold off Panthers for Win

The Tri-Valley Mustang girls held off the Dakota Valley Panthers for a 48-44 win at home on Tuesday, February 17th in a make-up game from earlier this season.

The Mustangs started the game by building a five-point lead, 16-11, in the opening quarter.  They maintained the lead throughout the second quarter and led 26-22 going into halftime.  The Panthers would start the second half on a 7-3 run to tie the game 29-29 with 5:30 to go in the third quarter.  They would continue that momentum and take the lead.  The Mustangs responded and regained the lead 37-34 going into the fourth quarter.  They were able to hold off the Panthers in the fourth quarter to get their 11th win of the season.

Tri-Valley shot 30% (17-56) from the field overall, 29% (7-24) from three-point area, and 50% (7-14) from the free-throw line.  Dakota Valley was 39% (12-31) shooting overall, 46% (6-13) on three-point attempts, and 70% (14-20) from the free-throw line.

Mattie Huwe had 19 points, four rebounds, and four steals.  Rowyn Gacke finished with 10 points, seven rebounds, four assists, and four steals.  Hailey Sorenson had nine points and three steals.  Peyton Vogt added five points and six rebounds.  Kadence Davey also had five points with five rebounds and four steals.
