Mustang Boys Score Win over Milbank

The Tri-Valley Mustang boys held off the Milbank Bulldogs to earn a 53-41 win at home on Saturday, February 14th.

The Mustangs opened the game with a 5-1 run in the first four and a half minutes.  They would end the quarter with an 11-5 lead.  Tri-Valley continued to lead by six points, 17-11, but Milbank went on a 4-0 run to cut the lead to 17-15 with 3:00 to go in the first half.  The Mustangs held a 25-21 lead at halftime.

The lead would stay at four points through most of the third quarter.  The Mustangs led 27-23 and also 31-27 with 3:00 to go in the quarter.  They would end the quarter on a 6-3 run to push the lead to 37-30 going into the fourth quarter.  The little run turned into strong momentum for Tri-Valley.  They scored the first six points of the quarter to go extend the lead to 43-30 with 4:40 to play.  The Mustangs would maintain a comfortable lead the rest of the game for the win.

Tri-Valley shot 43% (19-44) from the field overall, 35% (7-20) on three-point attempts, and 80% (8-10) from the free-throw line.  Milbank finished the game shooting 33% (17-52) overall, 13% (3-24) on three-point shots, and 40% (4-10) from the free-throw line.

Brady Jewett finished with 15 points and three rebounds.  Lawson Schneiderman had 13 points and five rebounds.  Ty Oyen added 10 points, four rebounds, and six assists.  Mason Hemme ended with six points, four rebounds, and five assists.
