Defense is the Cornerstone for Mustang Girls Basketball in 2025-2026

The Tri-Valley Mustang girls basketball team set several records a year ago, including the most three-pointers made (169) in a season as well as an individual three-pointers made (8) in a game record.  The team had a 12-10 overall record, finished second in the region, and hosted two region games falling to West Central in a close battle.

“We really set the tone defensively last year with our effort and intensity.  As a team we forced 532 turnovers, had 503 deflections, and 363 steals.  We held teams to an impressive .66 points per possession.  We were competitive with the best teams in the state, which was a testament to the toughness and determination of our team,” said head coach Sam Williams.

Tri-Valley looks to improve on that success from a year ago this year.  Seniors Danika Fluth, Mattie Huwe, Jaidyn McMillen, Elisabeth Miller, and Hailey Sorenson will help lead the team.  Peyton Vogt, Kadence Davey, and Rowyn Gacke return as key players as well.  Lily Schlueter, Mya Soderquist, Rylin Fods, and Lexi Everhart will look to earn varsity roles this year.

“After a great season of growth last year, we are looking forward to continuing to build off the foundation we set.  With defense as our cornerstone, we are looking to continue to grow and inch closer to the elite level teams in the state.  We feel like we have the potential to be really solid this year and are committed to realizing that potential through hard work and dedication,” added Williams.

The Mustangs start the 2025-2026 season at home against Garretson on Tuesday, December 9th.
