Baltic/Colton suffered their first loss of the Region 2B tournament on Wednesday, July 24th. Dell Rapids was able to pull away for a 13-8 victory.
Dell Rapids struck first with three runs in the bottom of the first. Baltic/Colton cut the lead to 3-2 with two runs in the top of the third. Dell Rapids got two runs themselves in the bottom of the third to make the score 5-2. Baltic/Colman scored three times in the top of the fourth to tie the game 5-5.
Dell Rapids rebounded from the tie score and scored four runs in the bottom of the fourth to go back in front 9-5. Baltic/Colman would chip away at the lead over the next two innings. They got two in the fifth and another in the sixth to get within a run, 9-8. Dell Rapids secured the win with a four-run bottom of the sixth.
Beau Keith had two hits and an RBI. Everett Althoff also had two hits, including a double. Carter Sorenson had a double and two RBIs. Beau Breece added a single and two RBIs. Tyler Groenewold finished with a double. Riley Schultz and Braxten Allen both had one single each. Schultz pitched 5 2/3 innings and allowed 10 runs, six earned, on eight hits and a walk with six strikeouts. Keith pitched 1/3 of an inning and allowed three earned runs on three hits and two walks.
