The Tri-Valley Mustang volleyball team hosted the #2 ranked Chester Flyers on Tuesday, October 6th. The Flyers won the match in straight sets by scores of 25-13, 25-20, and 25-21.
After an early 3-3 tie to start the first set, Chester went on a 5-0 to go ahead 8-3. Tri-Valley responded with a 5-0 run of their own to tie the score 8-8. However, it was all Chester from that point. The Flyers went on a 6-o to go back in front 14-8. They then went on a 6-1 run to extend the lead to 20-9 before winning 25-13.
The two teams would trade the lead throughout the second set. The Mustangs held a 4-3 lead early. After swapping leads, the Flyers led 10-9. They added another point to that lead at 14-12. Tri-Valley would go on a little run to go back in front 17-16. Unfortunately for the Mustangs, Chester would go on a 3-0 run to make the score 19-17. They pushed the lead to 23-19 and ended the second set with a 25-20 win.
Chester opened the third set with five straight points. They continued to lead at 7-4, but the Mustangs kept chipping away at the deficit. Tri-Valley got within a point at 8-7 and eventually tied the score 12-12. They continued their rally and went ahead 16-14. Chester would then respond with a 4-0 run to retake the lead 18-16. That spurt kept them in front the rest of the way to the 25-21 victory.
