Tri-Valley Girls Stop McCook Central/Montrose Comeback

The Tri-Valley Mustangs stopped a second half comeback by the McCook Central/Montrose Cougars and came home with a 41-34 road win on Monday, February 17th.

The Mustangs grabbed the lead in the first quarter and led 13-8 at the quarter break.  They held the Cougars to just four points in the second quarter and led 25-12 at halftime.  McCook Central/Montrose found their groove from three-point area in the third quarter and rallied to get within three points, 32-29, going into the fourth quarter.  The Mustangs were able to stop the Cougar rally and pulled away for the 41-34 win.

Tri-Valley shot 22% (11-49) from the field overall, 19% (4-21) on three-point shots, and 60% (15-25) from the free-throw line.  McCook Central/Montrose was 24% (9-38) shooting overall, 30% (6-20) from three-point area, and 50% (10-20) from the free-throw line.

Mattie Huwe ended the game with 19 points and three steals.  Rowyn Gacke had eight points and six rebounds.  Hailey Sorenson had seven points, four rebounds, and three steals.  Kadence Davey had four points, nine rebounds, and three steals.
