The Tri-Valley Mustang boys wrestling team took fifth place at the 2026 South Dakota State Team Championship Duals in Pierre on Saturday, February 14th. The #8 seeded Mustangs had a close battle with #1 Winner in the opening round falling 35-28. They bounced back with a big 66-15 win over Kingsbury County and then defeated Parkston 58-20 for the consolation championship.
Brody Dybvig and Alex McFarland both had three pins each. Landyn Reiser, Cole Hendrixson, Luke Nehlich, Legend Frederick, and Xander Sharpe each had two pins on the day. Treyson Richter had two major decision wins. Connor Glassford had a pin and a technical fall win. Xavier Yount finished with a pin and a decision victory. Owen Effling had one pin. Owen Bunde had a major decision win, and Sean King earned a win in injury time.
