First Half Defense Leads to Win for Tri-Valley Boys

The Tri-Valley Mustang boys basketball team used a strong defensive first half to lead them to a 63-32 win over the Elkton-Lake Benton Elks on Monday, January 5th.

The Mustangs opened the game on a 5-0 run and continued to lead by five points, 12-7, with 2:15 to play in the first quarter.  The first quarter ended with the Mustangs leading 12-8, but the Elks got within a point, 12-11, early in the second quarter.  That would be as close as they would get.  Tri-Valley went on a 15-0 run to close out the second quarter for a 27-11 halftime lead.  The Mustangs would keep rolling from there in the second half.  They would lead 43-26 at halftime and then hold the Elks to just six points in the fourth quarter.

Tri-Valley shot 49% (22-45) from the field overall, 39% (9-23) from three-point area, and 83% (10-12) from the free-throw line.  Elkton-Lake Benton finished the game shooting just 26% (12-46) overall, 3-23 on three-point shots, and 5-9 from the free-throw line.

Brady Jewett had a huge game scoring 38 points with four rebounds and two assists.  Dante Nehman had 10 points.  Kobe Krome finished with six points and six rebounds.
