Strong Fourth Quarter Lifts Mustang Boys to Season Opening Win

The Tri-Valley Mustang boys basketball team opened their 2025-2026 season at home against the Parkston Trojans on Friday, December 12th.  The Mustangs used a strong fourth quarter to lead them to a 46-34 victory.

Parkston opened the game with a 3-0 start.  Tri-Valley didn’t let Parkston start too quickly and eventually held an 11-9 lead in the quarter.  The Mustangs ended the first quarter with a 16-12 lead.  Tri-Valley continued to lead by four, 20-16, but the Trojans went on a 5-0 run to go in front 21-20.  The Mustangs would score the final two points of the half for a 22-21 halftime lead.

The third quarter continued to be close.  The Mustangs pushed the lead to four points, 27-23, but Parkston pulled within two points by quarter’s end, 31-29.  After Tri-Valley led 35-32 early in the fourth quarter, they would close out the game on an 11-2 run for the win.

The Mustangs shot 49% (18-37) from the field overall, 31% (4-13) from three-point area, and 6-8 from the free-throw line.  Parkston was 34% (14-41) overall, 25% (6-24) on three-point attempts.  The Trojans did not have a free-throw attempt in the game.

Brady Jewett had 20 points, four rebounds, and three steals.  Ty Oyen added nine points, 11 rebounds, and six assists.  Kobe Krome finished with seven points.   Lawson Schneiderman had six points and two rebounds.
