The Tri-Valley Mustangs hosted the Sioux Valley Cossacks in an afternoon match on Saturday, September 27th. The Mustangs won in straight sets by scores of 25-18, 26-24, and 25-18.
After taking the first set, Tri-Valley found themselves down 5-0 to start the second set. The Cossacks slowly built a 10-point lead at 15-5. The Mustangs started chipping away at that lead. Tri-Valley got within four points at 16-12 and 18-14. They were able to cut the lead down to one, 23-22. The Mustangs tied the set 24-24. They would then score the final two points to make take the win 26-24.
The third set started close. Tri-Valley led 3-2 early, but Sioux Valley tied the score 5-5. The set was still just a one-point lead for Tri-Valley at 11-10 before they went on a run. The Mustangs went on a 7-1 run to extend the lead to 18-11. The Cossacks pulled within five at 19-14 and 22-17, but that was as close as they would get. Tri-Valley ended the set, and match, with a 25-18 win.
