Tri-Valley Maroon 14U Wins Back-to-Back Games

The Tri-Valley Maroon 14U baseball team, currently 7-1 in the I-29 season, won back-to-back games on Tuesday, June 11th and Wednesday, June 12th.

Tri-Valley Maroon 6, Sioux Falls Chargers 5

Playing at home on Tuesday, Tri-Valley survived a four-run second inning by Sioux Falls Christian to get a 6-5 win.  Tri-Valley scored two runs in the bottom of the first for a 2-0 lead.  Sioux Falls Christian had their four-run second inning for a 4-2 lead.  Tri-Valley then scored a run in the bottom of the second, two in the bottom of the third, and one more in the fourth for a 6-4 lead.  Sioux Falls Christian picked up one more run in the top of the fifth.

Reed Smith had two singles and an RBI.  Abbott Moeller also had two hits.  Daniel Richardson and Dante Nehman both had a single and an RBI.  Cooper Nielsen, Lawson Schneiderman, and Evan Focken all had one hit each.  Garrit Koopman and Jaxson Rise both had an RBI.  Nehman pitched 4 1/3 innings and allowed five runs, but just one earned, on six hits and three walks with four strikeouts.  Moeller pitched 2 2/3 innings allowing two walks with three strikeouts.

Tri-Valley Maroon 11, Canton Blue 5

Each team scored five runs in the first three innings.  Tri-Valley then scored two runs each in the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings for six straight runs in their 11-5 road victory.

Smith had two hits and two RBIs.  Paxton Felsheim, Focken, and Koopman all had a hit and an RBI each.  Nielsen and Cooper Durick both had a double.  Schneiderman, Moeller, Richardson, and Maddux McGill all had a single.  Nehman added an RBI.  Schneiderman pitched 2 1/3 innings and allowed five runs, but just one earned, on a hit and five walks with five strikeouts.  Focken threw 2 2/3 innings and allowed a walk with five strikeouts.  Smith pitched an inning and gave up a walk with one strikeout.
