#3 Viborg-Hurley Holds off Tri-Valley Boys

Coming off of an exciting, overtime win against Dell Rapids, the Tri-Valley Mustang boys traveled to Hurley to play the #3 ranked Viborg-Hurley Cougars on Friday, February 6th.  The Cougars were able to pull away in the fourth quarter for a 56-48 win.

The Mustangs started the game with a 6-3 run.  Viborg-Hurley countered with a 6-2 run for a 9-8 lead at the end of the first quarter.  The Cougars extended their lead to 22-14 in the second quarter and ended the first half with a 27-20 advantage.

Viborg-Hurley continued to extend their lead early in the third quarter.  The lead grew to 12 points, 38-26.  The Mustangs would go on an 11-3 run to end the quarter and cut the lead to 41-37 going into the fourth quarter.   Tri-Valley would continue their run and and took a 44-43 lead.  The Cougars responded with four straight points to retake the lead 47-44.  The Mustangs would then go on a 4-0 spurt of their own for a 48-47 lead.  Unfortunately, those were the last points the Mustangs would score.  Viborg-Hurley ended the game on a 9-0 run for the 56-48 win.

Tri-Valley shot 43% (18-42) from the field overall, 43% (6-14) from three-point area, and 6-7 from the free-throw line.  Viborg-Hurley finished the game shooting 45% (19-42) overall, 23% (5-22) on three-point shots, and 59% (13-22) from the free-throw line.

Brady Jewett had 19 points, four rebounds, and three assists.  Lawson Schneiderman added 11 points and six rebounds.  Ty Oyen ended with eight points and three rebounds.  Mason Hemme had six points, three rebounds, and two assists.  Tristen Bunde had four points and four rebounds.
