Tri-Valley White 14U Falls to Dell Rapids Navy in Offensive Battle

Tri-Valley White 14U and Dell Rapids Navy combined for 18 runs and 20 hits, but it was Dell Rapids that took the 11-7 win in Dell Rapids on Tuesday, June 21st.

Bracken Sharpe scored on an error in the top of the second for the first run of the game.  Dell Rapids also scored a run in the bottom of the second.  Tri-Valley then had a big four-run top of third getting all their runs on two outs.  Sullivan Snethen, Brady Jewett, Cooper Nielson, and Matthew Cypher all scored on passed balls to take a 5-1 lead.

That lead was short-lived, however, as Dell Rapids scored five times in the bottom of the third.  The two teams went back and forth inning.  Landen Jensen and Snethen both had RBI singles for Tri-Valley to go ahead 7-6.  Dell Rapids also scored two times in the bottom of the fourth to take the lead back 8-7.  Dell Rapids then scored three runs in the bottom of the fifth to secure the win.

Snethen had two hits and an RBI.  Sharpe had two hits, one a double.  Nielson also had two hits.  Jensen finished with a single and RBI.  Cypher had a double.  Jewett and Blaine Wiezoreck both had a single.  Snethen pitched three inning and allowed five earned runs on five hits with two strikeouts.   Brenner Struiksma also pitched three innings and allowed six earned runs on five hits and four walks with three strikeouts.

Tri-Valley Maroon 14U Holds off Tea-P for Win

Tri-Valley Maroon scored all their runs in one inning and then held off Tea-P for an 8-7 road win on Tuesday, June 21st.

Tea-P got on the board first with a run in the bottom of the first inning.  They added two more in the bottom of the third and led 3-0 after three innings of play.

Tri-Valley Maroon then had their big eight-run inning in the top of the fourth.  Gage Egger drove home the first run with a single.  Egger then scored on a passed ball.  Treyson Ricther tied the game when he scored on a passed ball.  Dylan Christensen followed with an RBI single.  Parker Atwood and Denton Bicknase both had RBI singles.  Both Cole Hendrixson and Mason Hemme reached on errors that also scored runs to give Tri-Valley an 8-3 lead.

Tea-P put together a late rally.  They scored a run in the bottom of the fifth to make the score 8-4.  They then got the bases loaded with one out after three straight walks.  A strikeout followed leaving the bases loaded with two outs.  Another walk brought home one run, then a single added two more runs to make the score 8-7.  Tri-Valley, however, got a ground out of the next better to end the game and leave the tying run on third base.

Bicknase had two hits with an RBI.  Egger, Christensen, and Atwood all had a single and an RBI.  M. Hemme and Parker Hemme both had a single.  Egger pitched two innings and allowed an unearned run on three hits and a walk with two strikeouts.  Bicknase also pitched two innings and allowed two runs, one earned, on a hit with one strikeout.  Jackson Williams pitched 1 2/3 innings and allowed four runs, three earned, on a hit and five walks with a strikeout.  Hendrixson pitched 1/3 of an inning.

Seventh Inning Rally Lifts Tri-Valley Maroon 14U to Victory

Tri-Valley Maroon 14U scored five times in the top of the seventh inning to get a 9-6 come-from-behind win at Hamlin on Friday, June 17th.

Kaiden Bernards drove home the first run for Tri-Valley in the top of the first with a double for an early 1-0 lead.  Hamlin took the lead in the bottom of the third with a three-run inning.

Tri-Valley responded with three runs of their own in the top of the fifth.  Cole Hendrixson drove home two with a double to left field, and then he later scored to give the lead back to Tri-Valley, 4-3.  The lead was short lived as Hamlin had another three run inning in the bottom of the fifth to go ahead 6-4.

The third time Tri-Valley took the lead was for good.  They scored five times in the top of the seventh inning.  Tristen Bunde had an RBI single.  Dylan Christensen tied the game, 6-6, with an RBI single.  Bernards scored on a passed ball, and then Myles DeWitt had an RBI ground ball. Parker Atwood drove home the final run of the game with an RBI single.

Bernards had two hits, one a double, and an RBI.  Christensen and Atwood both had two singles and an RBI.  Mason Hemme and Denton Bicknase both had two singles.  Hendrixson had a double and three RBIs.  Bunde and T. DeWitt each added a single and an RBI.  Jackson Williams and Owen Bunde both finished with a single.

T. Bunde pitched 4 2/3 innings allowing seven runs, but only one earned, on three hits and four walks with six strikeouts.  Bicknase pitched 2 1/3 innings and allowed two hits and a walk with five strikeouts.

Tri-Valley White 14U Holds Tea-P in Win

Tri-Valley White 14U scored eight times in the third inning and held off Tea-P in a 13-11 win on Wednesday, June 15th.

Tri-Valley scored a run in the top of the first when Sullivan Snethen scored on a wild pitch.  Tea put together a three-run second inning to lead 3-1 at that point.  That’s when Tri-Valley had their big inning.

Tri-Valley scored eight runs on four hits and four walks in the inning. Tea responded with a five-run bottom of the third, but Tri-Valley held a 9-8 lead after three innings.

Noah Eggert extended the lead with an RBI single in the top of the fourth.  Both Matthew Cypher and Eggert later scored in the inning for a 12-8 advantage.  Tea also scored three times in the bottom of the fourth, and the lead was just 12-11.  Tri-Valley added a big insurance run in the top of the fifth to secure the win.

Cooper Nielson had three hits.  Austin Puetz had two hits and an RBI.  Bracken Sharpe also had two hits.  Eggert finished with a single and an RBI.  Snethen, Cypher, Landen Jensen, and Brenner Struiksma all had singles.

Brady Jewett pitched two innings and allowed three earned runs on four hits with a strikeout.  Nielson pitched one inning allowing seven runs, five earned, on three hits and seven walks with two strikeouts.  Blaine Wiezoreck pitched 1 2/3 innings allowing an unearned run while striking out three.

Tri-Valley Maroon 14U Has Big Rally in Sixth for Win

The Tri-Valley Maroon 14U team put together a big rally in the bottom of the sixth inning against Sioux Falls Christian on Wednesday, June 15th.  Tri-Valley trailed 12-7 going into the bottom of the sixth, but scored 13 times and took the 20-14 win.

Sioux Falls Christian scored four runs in the top of the first inning.  Tri-Valley got half of those runs back and trailed 4-2 after the first inning.  Sioux Falls Christian scored the next five runs, four in the second and one in the third, to pus the lead to 9-2.

Tri-Valley got scored a run in the bottom of the third inning and another in the bottom of the fourth.  They trailed 9-4 after four innings of play.  Sioux Falls Christian put together a two-run inning in the top of the fifth.  Tri-Valley countered with three in the bottom of the inning to make the score 11-7.  After another run by Sioux Falls Christian in the top of the sixth, Tri-Valley then scored 13 times in the sixth inning.  Sioux Falls Christian scored twice in the top of the seventh.

Treyson Richter had two hits, including a double, and four RBIs.  Mason Hemme also had two hits, one a double, and three RBIs.  Cole Hendrixson had a triple and a double with an RBI.  Parker Hemme finished with a single and RBI.  Dylan Christensen, Tristen Bunde, and Kaiden Bernards all had a hit.  Denton Bicknase had two RBIs.

Hendrixson pitched 1 1/3 innings and allowed eight runs, four earned, on five hits and four walks with two strikeouts.  Bernards pitched three innings and allowed three runs, two eanred, on two hits and four walks with three strikeouts.  Jackson Williams pitched 2 2/3 innings allowing three earned runs on two hits and four walks with three strikeouts.

Garretson Steals Win from Tri-Valley White 14U in Late Innings

Garretson scored eight runs in their final two at-bats to steal a 14-9 win from Tri-Valley White on Monday, June 13th in Garretson.

The first run of the game went to Garretson in the bottom of the first inning.  Tri-Valley bounced back with three runs in the top of the second.  Austin Puetz had an RBI single.  Bracken Sharpe brought home a run with a ground out, and Puetz scored on a balk for a 3-1 lead.  Tri-Valley added another run in the top of the third on an RBI single by Cooper Nielson.

Garretson regrouped and scored four times in the bottom of the third to take a 5-4 lead.  Puetz added another RBI single in the top of the fourth, and Landen Jensen had an RBI ground out to give the lead back to Tri-Valley, 6-5.  Garretson tied the game with a run in the bottom of the fourth inning.

Tri-Valley took the lead again in the top of the fifth with three more runs.  Puetz had an RBI single, and Sharpe brought home two on a single.  Tri-Valley led 9-6 heading into the bottom of the fifth.  Garretson then scored the final eight runs of the game, which included seven in the bottom of the fifth.  They added one more in the bottom of the sixth.

Puetz had three hits and three RBIs.  Matthew Cypher had three hits, including a double.  Sharpe added a single and three RBIs.  Nielson and Jensen both had a single and an RBI.  Noah Eggert finished with a double.  Sullivan Snethen pitched 2 1/3 innings allowing eight runs, seven earned, on six hits and three walks with two strikeouts.  Cypher pitched 3 2/3 innings allowing six earned runs on six hits and three walks with four strikeouts.

Tri-Valley 14U Maroon 2-1 in League Tournament

Tri-Valley Maroon 14U won two of their three games at the I-29 League Tournament in Flandreau Friday, June 10th and Saturday, June 11th.  Tri-Valley Maroon played Dell Rapids Red, West Central Gold, and Tea-D for their three games.

Tri-Valley Maroon 15, Dell Rapids Red 5

Tri-Valley started the tournament with a 15-5 win on Friday.  They had a total of six hits while holding Dell Rapids to just one hit.  Tri-Valley scored four in the bottom of the first inning.  Dell Rapids got three in the top of the second, but Tri-Valley responded with five in the bottom of the sixth.  Dell Rapids got two more in the top of the third, but Tri-Valley added six more in the bottom of the third.  The game ended after the top of the fourth inning on the 10-run rule.

Owen Bunde and Gage Egger each had a double and an RBI.  Cole Hendrixson and Tristen Bunde each had a hit and an RBI.  Treyson Ricther and Myles DeWitt also had hits.  Mason Hemme added two RBIs.  Egger pitched 1 2/3 innings allowing three earned runs on four walks and four strikeouts.  Denton Bicknase pitched an inning and recorded two strikeouts.  Kaiden Bernards pitched 1 1/3 inning and allowed two runs, one earned, on a hit and three walks with two strikeouts.

West Central Gold 8, Tri-Valley Maroon 5

In the second game of the day for Tri-Valley, West Central scored four runs in the fifth inning and three more in the sixth to steal an 8-5 victory.

West Central got a run right away in the top of the first inning.  Tri-Valley struck for four runs in the bottom of the third.  Bunde hit a fly ball to center and reached on an error that also scored Hendrixson.  Bunde scored on a passed ball for a 2-1 lead.  Richter also scored on a passed ball, and Egger scored on an error to give Tri-Valley a 4-1 lead.

The score remained 4-1 until the top of the fifth inning.  West Central scored four times to take a 5-4 lead.  Egger had an RBI single in the bottom of the fifth to tie the game to send the game to extra innings.  West Central, however, scored three times in the top of the six and held Tri-Valley scoreless in the bottom of the inning for the 8-5 win.

Egger had a hit and an RBI.  Hemme had two hits.  Hendrixson finished with a double.  Bunde, Richter, and DeWitt each had a single.  Bicknase pitched 5 1/3 innings and allowed seven runs, five earned, on nine hits and a walk with seven strikeouts.  Hendrixson pitched 2/3 of an inning allowing an earned run on two hits and three walks.

Tri-Valley Maroon 15, Tea-D 2

Tri-Valley bounced back on Saturday against Tea-D.  They scored in every inning and held Tea to just two hits in their 15-2 win that ended in four innings on the 10-run rule.

Tri-Valley scored three times in the first inning, and then had four runs each in the second, third, and fourth innings.  Tea scored two runs in the bottom of the second inning.

Bernards had a double and two RBIs.  Hendrixson had a hit and two RBIs.  Hemme finished with a hit and an RBI.  Egger had a hit.   Bicknase finished with two RBIs, and Dylan Christensen also had an RBI.  Jackson Williams pitched two innings and allowed two unearned runs on three walks with three strikeouts.  Hendrixson also pitched two innings and allowed two hits.

Tri-Valley White 14U Finishes 2-1 at League Tournament

Tri-Valley White 14U baseball played three games in the I-29 League tournament in Flandreau Friday, June 10th and Saturday, June 11th.  Tri-Valley White played Tea-D, Hamlin, and Sioux Falls Christian in their three games.

Tri-Valley White 13, Tea-D 0

Tri-Valley White scored 10 runs in the first two innings on their way to a 13-0 win over Tea-D.  Four Tri-Valley pitchers combined to keep Tea-D hitless in the game on Friday, June 10th.

Tri-Valley only had one hit in the game themselves, an RBI single by Blaine Wiezoreck.  The offense, however, drew 18 walks in the game.  Matthew Cyper also had an RBI.  Sullivan Snethen pitched 1 1/3 innings walking two batters and striking out one.  Cypher pitched an inning and had two strikeouts.  Brenner Stuiksma pitched an inning with one strikeout and one walk.  Cooper Nielson pitched 2/3 of an inning allowing one walk and struck out two.

Hamlin 10, Tri-Valley White 7

Hamlin scored seven runs in the middle innings and held off Tri-Valley for a 10-7 win on Saturday, June 11th.

Both teams scored three runs in the first inning.  Hamlin scored first in the top of the first.  Cypher drove home two for Tri-Valley with a single and later scored to tie the game 3-3 after the first inning.  Hamlin got two more runs in the top of the third. Tri-Valley got two runs in the bottom of the inning.  Nielson had an RBI ground out, and Noah Eggert reached on an error that scored Cypher.

Hamlin added three more runs in the top of the fourth and held Tri-Valley scoreless in their half of the inning for a 10-5 lead heading into the final inning.  Tri-Valley scored two times in the bottom of the fifth.  Brady Jewett and Cypher both had RBI singles, but Tri-Valley rally was stopped.

Cypher had three hits and three RBIs.  Jewett had a hit and an RBI.  Snethen had a hit, and Nielson had an RBI.  Struiksma pitched all five innings allowing 10 runs, four earned, on seven hits with three walks and five strikeouts.

Tri-Valley White 7, Sioux Falls Christian 5

Tri-Valley had a six-run fourth inning to give them a 7-5 come-from-behind win in their final game of the tournament on Sunday.

Snethen gave Tri-Valley a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning on a steal of home.  Sioux Falls Christian tied the game with a run in the top of the second, and then they took the lead, 4-1, with three runs in the top of the third.  Tri-Valley responded with six runs in the bottom of the fourth.  Eggert scored on an error, Landon McGill had an RBI double and later scored, Jewett brought home two with a double, and Nielson had an RBI single.  Sioux Falls Christian got a solo home run to start the top of the fifth, but the next three batters got out to end the game.

Jewett had two hits, one a double, and two RBIs.  Nielson also had two hits, one a double, and an RBI.  McGill also had a double and an RBI.  Bracken Sharpe added a hit.  Snethen pitched two innings and allowed one earned run on a hit with three strikeouts.  Jewett pitched three innings and allowed four runs, none of them earned, on a hit and two walks with four strikeouts.

Madison’s Big Fifth Inning Key in Win over Tri-Valley Maroon 14U

Madison Black 14U scored six times in the top of the fifth inning, which proved to be the difference in a 10-4 win over Tri-Valley Maroon on Tuesday, June 7th.

Madison scored two times in the top of the second inning for an early 2-0 lead.  Tri-Valley had a big inning of their own in the bottom of the fourth.  Tristen Bunde had an RBI ground ball and reached on an error.  Treyson Richter also scored on the error to tie the game 2-2.  Gage Egger followed with an RBI single.  Parker Atwood had an RBI ground out later in the inning, and Tri-Valley led 4-2 after the fourth inning.

Madison, however, scored six times in the top of the fifth, all with two outs.  The runs came on just two hits, but also four walks, a hit batter, and an error.  Madison would also score a single run in the top of the sixth and seventh innings.

Egger had a hit and an RBI.  Richter had two hits, including a double.  Denton Bicknase finished with a single.  Bunde had two RBIs in the game, and Atwood had one RBI.  Cole Hendrixson pitched 2 1/3 innings allowing two runs, neither of them earned, on a hit and walk with four strikeouts.  Bunde pitched 4 2/3 innings and allowed six runs, all earned, on six hits and three walks with five strikeouts.  Jackson Williams allowed two unearned runs on two walks.

Tri-Valley 14U Teams Post Wins

Both Tri-Valley 14U White and Tri-Valley 14U Maroon posted wins in their last games.  Tri-Valley White beat Parker 13-3 Tuesday, May 31st.  Tri-Valley White defeated Dell Rapids Red 14-2 on Wednesday, June 1st.

Tri-Valley Maroon 13, Parker 3

Tri-Valley Maroon scored 10 unanswered runs after the game was tied 3-3 in a 13-3 victory over Parker at home in a six-inning game.  Parker scored the first two runs in the top of the first inning, but Tri-Valley answered with three in the bottom of the inning.  Parker scored one more time in the top of the second to tie the game 3-3.  Tri-Valley then scored three runs in the bottom of the third, six more times in the bottom of the fifth, and one in the sixth to end the game on the 10-run rule.

Mason Hemme had two hits and three RBIs.  Tristen Bunde and D Christensen both had a hit and an RBI.  Treyson Ricther had two hits.  Cole Hendrixson finished with a double.  Myles DeWitt had two RBIs, and Gage Egger had an RBI.

Egger pitched the first three innings allowing three runs, two earned, on two hits and three walks with six strikeouts.  Bunde pitched the final three innings and allowed just one hit while striking out five batters.

Tri-Valley White 14, Dell Rapids Red 2

Tri-Valley White had a 12-run third inning in a 14-2 five-inning win over Dell Rapids Red at home.  Tri-Valley also scored a run in the second and fourth innings.  Dell Rapids scored both of their runs in the top of the fifth inning.  Tri-Valley belted 16 hits in the win, while holding Dell Rapids to just three hits.

Cooper Nielson had four hits and an RBI.  Sullivan Snethen had two hits and three RBIs.  Both Noah Eggert and Luke Strom had two htis and two RBIs.  Landon McGill and Brenner Struiksma each had two hits and an RBI.  Matthew Cypher had a hit and an RBI, and Austin Puetz had a hit.

Struiksma pitched the first four innings and allowed three hits and three walks while striking out eight.  Nielson pitched the final inning allowing two earned runs on two walks with three strikeouts.
