June 22, 2022 by Matt Larson, Big Sioux Media

Tri-Valley Maroon scored all their runs in one inning and then held off Tea-P for an 8-7 road win on Tuesday, June 21st.

Tea-P got on the board first with a run in the bottom of the first inning.  They added two more in the bottom of the third and led 3-0 after three innings of play.

Tri-Valley Maroon then had their big eight-run inning in the top of the fourth.  Gage Egger drove home the first run with a single.  Egger then scored on a passed ball.  Treyson Ricther tied the game when he scored on a passed ball.  Dylan Christensen followed with an RBI single.  Parker Atwood and Denton Bicknase both had RBI singles.  Both Cole Hendrixson and Mason Hemme reached on errors that also scored runs to give Tri-Valley an 8-3 lead.

Tea-P put together a late rally.  They scored a run in the bottom of the fifth to make the score 8-4.  They then got the bases loaded with one out after three straight walks.  A strikeout followed leaving the bases loaded with two outs.  Another walk brought home one run, then a single added two more runs to make the score 8-7.  Tri-Valley, however, got a ground out of the next better to end the game and leave the tying run on third base.

Bicknase had two hits with an RBI.  Egger, Christensen, and Atwood all had a single and an RBI.  M. Hemme and Parker Hemme both had a single.  Egger pitched two innings and allowed an unearned run on three hits and a walk with two strikeouts.  Bicknase also pitched two innings and allowed two runs, one earned, on a hit with one strikeout.  Jackson Williams pitched 1 2/3 innings and allowed four runs, three earned, on a hit and five walks with a strikeout.  Hendrixson pitched 1/3 of an inning.
