State Track Results – Final Day

The final day of the State A and State B High School Track and Field Meet was held today in Rapid City. Madison won the State A Boys title with 91 points. Dell Rapids finished 3rd with 68 points. West Central won the State A Girls title with 65 points. Dell Rapids finished 13th with 21 points. Viborg/Hurley won the State B Boys title and Ipswich won the State B Girls title. Below are the results from both days of the local atheletes.

Dell Rapids Boys:

100m dash – Channing Barber finished 3rd (11.40) and Zachary Barber finished 4th (11.56)
4×100 relay – Dell Rapids team finished 1st with a time of 43.66 (Z. Barber, Brodie Sharp, Tanner Munk, C. Barber)
200m dash – Z. Barber finished 3rd (22.73) and C. Barber finished 5th (22.90)
4×200 relay – Dell Rapids team finished 3rd with a time of 1:32.01 (Zach Schroeder, Weston Hansen, Munk, C. Barber)
High Jump – Zach White finished 5th (6’1″)

The first day of the State A and State B High School Track and Field Meet was held yesterday in Rapid City and Spearfish. The finals will take place today in Rapid City. Below are the results from the first day:

The Region 3A Track and Field meet was held Thursday in Dell Rapids. Madison took home both the boys and girls region championships. The Dell Rapids girls team finished in fourth place while the Dell Rapids boys team finished in second place.

Barber, the 4×400 relay team of Hansen, Munk, Schmidt and Schroeder, the sprint medley relay of Bergstrom, Lacey, Sharp and Schroeder, Zach White in the high jump, Brett Nichols in the long jump and triple jump, Jon Anderson in the shot put, and Cole Langer in the discus.

Friday (May 25th) and Saturday (May 26th) are the dates of the state track meet in Spearfish and Rapid City.

Dakota Valley Conference Track Results

The Dell Rapids St Mary Cardinals track teams competed at the Dakota Valley Conference meet over the weekend with the Estelline boys capturing 1^st place with a team score of 140.50 while St Marys finished in 8^th place with a score of 42 points. On the girls’ side, Elkton Lake Benton won the meet with a score of 143 while St Marys girls finished in 9^th place with a 30.50.

Individually for the boys Chris Lee won the 100 meter dash while finishing runner-up in the 200 meters. Jared Scholten took 2^nd place in the 1600 meter run and the 3200 meters.

Top performers for the girls team were Kelly Michel 4^th in the triple jump, Alyssa Mullaney 3^rd in the 300 meter hurdles and 4^th in the 100 meter hurdles, and Mikayla Brown 4^th in the 100 meter dash.

Big Sioux Conference Track Results

Dell Rapids was busy on the track Thursday as the Lady Quarriers’ Coach Mike Putnam reported to Big Sioux Media.

Yesterday the varsity girls track team competed in the Big Sioux Conference Track Meet. The girls Medley Relay team of Karen Eddy, Kelli Siemonsma, Corynn Hoff, and Brittney Schlaikjer finished 2nd. Cassidy Wright finished 3rd in the disc and 5th in the shot. The 3200m relay team of Schlaakjer, Hannah Fielder, Lexi Snyder, and Hoff finished 3rd and in the 100m hurdles Morgan Hoglund finished 7th.

Dell Rapids Invite Track Results

The Dell Rapids Invitational Track meet was held Monday and the following are results reported to Big Sioux Media.

Second place finishers were: Cassidy Wright in disc.
Third place finishers were: Cassidy Wright in shot; Mikaela Stofferahn in disc; 3200m relay team of Brittney Schlaikjer, Karlie Leighton, Jessica Tisher, Lexi Snyder; Tisher in the 3200m run; 1600m relay team of Schlaikjer, Karen Eddy, Rachel Devlin, Kelli Siemonsma.
Fourth place finishers were: Morgan Hoglund in high jump and 100m hurdles; Lexi Snyder in the 1600m run.
Fifth place finishers were: 800m relay team of Eddy, Kiah Schumaker, Sarah Haak, and Devlin; Siemonsma in the 100m dash.
Sixth place finishers were: Stofferahn in shot; Schumaker in the high jump; Nikki Bunkers in the long jump; Brittney Siemonsma in the disc; 400m relay team of Eddy, Schumaker, Haak, and Siemonsma.

The Quarriers boys had a good day at their own invitational. In the boys long jump Dell Rapids got points for 1^st and 2^nd place finishes as Zach Barber and Brett Nichols topped all competitors and in the high jump, Zach White captured 2^nd place. In the boys shot put, Cole Langer finished 1^st while teammate, Bryce Koch took 3^rd place. Langer also won 1^st place in the discus while Peter Nebben took 3^rd place. In the triple jump, Brett Nichols won the event. Dell Rapids won the 400 meter relay, the 800 meter relay, the 1600 meter relay, and the 3200 meter relay. In the 100 meter dash, Channing Barber captured 1^st place, In the 400 meter dash, Dells swept the top 4 places with Tad Lacey and Adam Reams leading the way. Tyler Dishman and Andrew Bach finished 3^rd and 4^th respectively.

O’Gorman Track & Field Invite Results

The Dell Rapids St Mary Cardinals competed this past Friday in Sioux Falls at the O’Gorman Track & Field Invite. Here are the top results as reported to Big Sioux Media.

Mikayla Brown finished 3^rd in the 400 meter dash, 5^th in the 200 meter dash; and 6^th in the 100 meter dash; In the boys’ 100 meter dash Chris Lee finished in 6^th place.

Lennox Track Results

The Lady Quarriers made their way to Lennox on Tuesday for track & field competition. Listed below are the results received by Big Sioux Media. Coach Michael Putnam says the girls did very good against some very tough teams.

2nd place finishers were: Brittney Schlaikjer in the 800; Medley relay team of Rachel Devlin, Kelli Siemonsma, Kiah Schumaker, and Hannah Fielder; Cassidy Wright in shot.

3rd place finishers were: Lexi Snyder in the 1600m run; Wright in the disc; Mikaela Stofferahn in the shot.

4th place finishers were: K. Siemonsma in the 100m dash; Coryn Hoff in the 400m dash; Jessica Tisher in the 3200m run; 1600m relay team of Schlaikjer, Karen Eddy, Devlin, and Hoff; 3200m relay team of Fielder, Tisher, Karlie Leighton, Snyder; Stofferahn in the disc.

5th place finishers were: Maddie Vietor in the 100m hurdles; 400m relay team of Eddy, Sammi Rieder, Hoff, K. Siemonsma; 800m relay team of Sarah Haak, Rieder, Megan Miles, Devlin.

6th place finishers were: K. Siemonsma in the 200m dash; Morgan Hoglund in the 100m hurdles; Brittney Siemonsma in the shot.

The Dell Rapids Quarriers boys team was also in Lennox Tuesday for track & field competition. Here are top finishers for the Quarriers.

In the 100 meter dash, Channing Barber finished first with a time of 11.0 while teammate, Brodie Sharp captured 4^th with a time of 11.7 and in the 200 meter dash, Dell Rapids speedsters finished one-two-three scoring a combined 24 team points. Zachary Barber was in 1^st place,Tanner Munk in 2^nd place, and 3^rd place went to Ian Bergstrom. In the 400 meter dash, Dell Rapids finished 3^rd, 4^th, & 5^th. The top Dells finisher was Adam Reams in 3^rd, Tyler Dishman in 4^th, and Travis Dusing in 5^th. Dell Rapids also won the 1600 meter Sprint Medley, the 400 and 800 meter relays, runner-up in the 1600 meter relay, and 4^th in the 3200 meter relay.

In the field events, Zach White was 2^nd place in the high jump and Spencer Kerzman was 4^th. In th e long jump Zach Barber and Brett Nichols finished 1^st and 2^nd respectively while in the triple jump Nichols was 3^rd and White 4^th place. Cole Langer captured 1^st in the shot put, while Bryce Koch was 4^th and teammate Jon Anderson was 5^th. Langer, Anderson, and Peter Nebben finished 1^st, 2^nd, and 3^rd in the discus.

As a team, the Quarriers finished 1^st with a total of 173.5 points.
