After voting to move the start of school to 8:30 a.m. in the last board meeting, the Dell Rapids School Board will meet again tonight. School Board Meets Tonight
The Dell Rapids Board of Education members meet in session tonight (Monday June 25th) beginning at 7pm. Some policies will be reviewed including dangerous weapons in school and reporting child abuse plus others. New business will include discussion of the establishment of a qualified school construction bond investment and authorizing the transfer from capital outlay fund to high school capital projects fund. One of several items to be discussed include the changing of the school start time.
Dell Rapids Board of Education Meets Tonight
The Dell Rapids Board of Education meets in regular session tonight (Monday) at 7:00 pm. It appears it should be a routine meeting with a couple of items that will be considered. The Haven Program will be discussed as well as the topic of resurfacing the track. There will be administrative reports as well.
Special Session of School Board
The Dell Rapids School Board met in special session Tuesday afternoon. Board President Brian Davis says, following the executive session, a determination to address an employee grievance report was made. Building secretaries will now be working an 18 hour weekly schedule per their employment agreements and summer schedules will be worked out with their building principals, predetermined and consistent with all hours worked between 8am and 5pm. Also, when the district secretary is gone for planned absences, other secretaries will fill in on a rotating basis.
Other personnel items addressed included an amendment to Dr John Jewett’s contract to include only Technology Director and not Elementary Principal, plus the Superintendent can advertise for another elementary principal. The board also voted not to renew the contracts for Jeanette Penning and Melvin Penning.
