The Dell Rapids Quarrier wrestling team participated in the Region 1A tournament on Saturday, February 18th, at West Central High School.  The Quarrier team finished with 68.5 points, which was sixth place.  Watertown on the team title with 223.0 points, and Brookings finished second with 150.0 points.

Five Quarrier wrestlers qualified for state by placing in the tournament.  Brayden Gee, Scott Warwick, Max Lamer, Ben Cavigielli, and Nick Palmer all advanced to the State A tournament which will be held on February 24th and 25th at the Premier Center in Sioux Falls.  Cavigielli was also the 220-pound Region 1A Champion.

The Dell Rapids Quarrier wrestling team won a dual and lost a dual at a triangular at Sioux Falls Roosevelt High School on Thursday, February 9th.  The Quarriers defeated Sioux Falls Lincoln 46-30, but fell to Sioux Falls Roosevelt 59-17.

Gage Carr earned two wins on the night, but almost every wrestler earned a win throughout the triangular.

The varsity wrestling team will have a week off before the Regional Tournament which will be held on Saturday, February 18th, at West Central High School in Hartford.

The Dell Rapids Quarrier wrestling team won one dual, but lost two others at a quadrangular at Montrose on Thursday, February 2nd.  Dell Rapids defeated West Central 42-39, but the Quarriers lost to McCook Central/Montrose 50-23 and to Adrian, MN 42-34.

Jacob Vogel (2), Zach McKee (2), Brayden Gee (2), Scott Warwick (2), Max Lamer (2), James Lueders (3), Ben Cavigielli (2), and Nick Schmidt (2) all had multiple wins on the night for Dell Rapids.

The Quarriers will be off for a week before hitting the mats again on Thursday, February 9th, at Sioux Falls Roosevelt for a triangular with SF Roosevelt and SF Lincoln.

The Dell Rapids Quarrier Wrestling team finished with 87.0 points at the Les Tlustos-Brookings Invitational wrestling tournament at the Swiftel Center in Brookings on Saturday, January 28th.  Pierre finished first as a team with 257.0 points.  Rapid City Central was second with 228.5 points, and Brookings placed third as a team with 180.5 points.

Ten Quarriers wrestlers placed in the top eight in their respective weight classes.  Zach McKee placed eighth, Brayden Gee placed sixth, Scott Warwick placed seventh, James Lueders placed seventh, Mitchell Klinkenborg placed eighth, Lincoln Richeal placed seventh, Ben Cavigielli placed fifth, Nick Schmidt placed fourth, Ethan Brobjorg placed eighth, and Nick Palmer placed sixth.

Brayden Gee, Scott Warwick, James Lueders, and Nick Palmer all picked up two wins on the night.  Lueders also earned his 100th career win as a Quarrier wrestler in the meet.

The Dell Rapids Quarriers traveled to Lennox for the Dak-12 Conference Wrestling Tournament on Saturday, January 21st.  Dell Rapids finished ninth with a total of 60.0 points.  Beresford/Alcester-Hudson finished first with a score of 170.0 points.  Canton placed second with 168.5 points, and Lennox was third with 145.0 points.

The Quarriers had three wrestlers finish in the top four of their respective weight class.  Zach McKee finished fourth in the 113-pound weight class.  Ben Cavigielli also placed fourth in the 220-pound weight class, and James Lueders finished second in the 152-pound weight class.

The Dell Rapids Quarrier wrestling team placed 7th at the Tri-Valley Wrestling Tournament on Saturday, January 14th.  The Quarriers finished with 113.0 points.  Lennox finished first as a team with 215.0 points.  Mt Vernon/Plankinton/Corsica-Stickney was second with 169.5 points, and Kimball/White Lake/Platte-Geddes was third with 167.0 points.

Dell Rapids had seven wrestlers place seventh or higher.  Jacob Vogel placed fourth, Zach McKee placed fourth, James Lueders placed third, Gage Carr placed fourth, Mitchell Klinkenborg placed fourth, Ben Cavigielli placed fifth, and Nick Palmer placed sixth.

The Dell Rapids Quarrier wrestling team hosted a Dak-12 meet on Tuesday, January 10th.  It was the final home wrestling match of the season and parent’s night.  The Quarriers hosted the Madison Bulldogs and the Vermillion Tanagers.

Dell Rapids lost to Vermillion 54-30.  Vermillon also defeated Madison 47-24.  Madison beat the Quarriers in the team dual 63-15.

The Quarriers will be at the Tri-Valley Tournament on Saturday, January 14th.
